This year, an earlier-than-usual heatwave is forecasted, leading to a significant increase in demand from customers looking to purchase air conditioners in advance. Riding this trend, it has been confirmed that air conditioner sales for Samsung Electronics and LG Electronics have also surged considerably.

Samsung Electronics announced on the 10th that its domestic home-use standard air conditioner sales in the first quarter of this year increased by more than 50% compared to the same period last year.

Sales recorded from January to March rose 51% year-on-year. In March alone, sales increased by 61%. By type, the stand-type air conditioners saw the largest growth with an 80% increase compared to last year, receiving strong consumer response. Besides the stand-type, there are wall-mounted and window-type air conditioners.

LG Electronics also reported that its domestic home-use standard air conditioner sales in the first quarter increased by approximately 60% compared to the same period last year. LG explained that sales of home-use standard air conditioners in March alone rose by more than 80% year-on-year.

As customers flock to purchase air conditioners, both companies have accelerated their response efforts.

To meet the increased customer demand, Samsung Electronics began full operation of its air conditioner production lines more than 10 days earlier than last year. A dedicated air conditioner installation team of about 4,700 members has also been deployed early to ensure consumers can receive prompt installation services. This installation team provides more professional service through training on device setup and SmartThings connection. LG Electronics has also been running its air conditioner production line at full capacity since early last month at its facility in Changwon, Gyeongnam.

New products have been launched one after another. Last month, Samsung Electronics introduced its entire lineup of 2025 AI air conditioners, featuring unparalleled Wind-Free performance and innovative artificial intelligence (AI) functions. Samsung’s 2025 AI air conditioner new lineup consists of four models: Bespoke AI Wind-Free Combo Gallery, Bespoke AI Wind-Free Classic, AI Wind-Free Combo Wall-mounted, and AI Q9000. The entire new lineup is equipped with various consumer-customized AI features such as 'AI Comfort,' which automatically creates a pleasant environment, and 'AI Saving Mode,' which reduces energy consumption by up to 30%. LG Electronics recently unveiled the 2025 models 'LG Whisen Objet Collection Tower I' and 'LG Whisen Objet Collection View I Pro,' both equipped with the AI agent 'LG PuriCare.'
