Yoon Song-yi, former NCSoft president who transformed into a venture capital (VC) investor, has also stepped down from her position as chairperson of the nonprofit NC Cultural Foundation.
According to the gaming industry on the 10th, Yoon recently resigned from the NC Cultural Foundation. Park Myung-jin, a director of the NC Cultural Foundation, was appointed as her successor.
Earlier, Yoon stepped down as CEO of NC West and Chief Strategy Officer (CSO) of NCSoft in August last year. At that time, NCSoft explained that Yoon would withdraw from overseas business operations and focus on social contribution activities as chairperson of the NC Cultural Foundation. While serving as NCSoft CSO, Yoon led external investments and was particularly known for showing interest in startups.
Yoon has been active since early this year as co-founder and managing partner of PVP. She participated in establishing the Silicon Valley-based VC 'Principle Venture Partners' (PVP) at the end of last year. PVP is discovering artificial intelligence (AI) startups through a $100 million (approximately 146 billion KRW) fund.
After attending the Game Developers Conference (GDC) held in San Francisco last month, Yoon will participate as a keynote speaker at the Korea Society's annual forum on the 22nd (local time). On the 28th of this month, she will give a lecture at the 'LA Games Conference,' an event mainly attended by U.S. game investors, and on the 28th of next month, she will engage in a discussion on Artificial General Intelligence (AGI) at the global tech conference 'Web Summit 2025' held in Vancouver, Canada.
Yoon is the spouse of Kim Taek-jin, co-CEO of NCSoft.
