Applicants wishing to participate must submit their applications to the career support office of their respective universities by June 17. After document screening and interviews by each company, successful candidates will be dispatched starting in June, following visa issuance.

Eligibility requirements include being currently enrolled, on leave of absence, or a graduate (within one year of graduation) from a two- or four-year university in Gyeongbuk or Daegu, with proficiency in English or the relevant local language. Applicants must also meet the qualifications required by the companies and be suitable for the J1 internship program.

Selected interns will receive support for airfare, approximately 80% of visa issuance fees, and accident insurance premiums. They will work at the assigned company for one year from the date of dispatch, gaining practical experience and job skills related to their academic background.

On June 10, Gyeongbuk Province held an online (Zoom video conference) 'Overseas Internship Support Program Pre-briefing Session' together with participating companies to promote the internship recruitment and help students better understand the program.

The briefing session provided an overview of the program's procedures and objectives, detailed information on participating companies and recruitment fields, as well as guidance on the visa application process and the J1 internship program.

Since its launch in 2010, Gyeongbuk Province's youth overseas internship support program has dispatched 442 interns abroad. Starting this year, the province plans to send more participants than in previous years to meet the increasing demand for overseas employment.

Choi Youngsook, Director of Economic and Trade Affairs for Gyeongbuk Province, stated, "We will do our best to create quality youth jobs by expanding the overseas internship support program, which had been somewhat scaled back due to COVID-19 and the global economic downturn, starting this year."
