The purpose was to strengthen the cooperation system between the maritime police, fire department, and maritime disaster rescue team in extinguishing fires on anchored vessels, and to minimize casualties and property damage through prompt initial response.
The main contents of the drill included: ▲Guidance for crew response and evacuation in case of a vessel fire ▲Inspection of the maritime police hotline ▲Training for proficiency in initial response measures ▲Joint fire extinguishing drills on land and at sea ▲Rescue and first aid training.
A Mokpo Maritime Police official stated, "Prompt initial response is extremely important in the event of a vessel fire," and added, "We will continue to strengthen the cooperation system among related agencies through ongoing drills and do our best to protect the precious lives and property of the public."
