At the conference held in Yokohama, Japan, from the 28th to the 30th of last month, Professor Ahn Younggeun was invited as a speaker for the Plenary Symposium Session in the field of cardiac regeneration, where he presented his research findings on cardiac organoids.
Cardiac organoids are mini heart tissues cultured in the laboratory using stem cells, representing an advanced technology based on regenerative medicine. This technology can be utilized for large-scale screening in patient-specific heart disease research and drug development, making it an innovative tool for future cardiac treatment. Currently, Professor Ahn Younggeun, together with Research Professor Kim Yongsuk and others, is conducting the 'MyHeart Project' supported by the Ministry of Science and ICT.
In the basic research session, Dr. Cho Dongim presented a study on the 'Therapeutic Application of ANGPTL4 in Atherosclerosis,' suggesting new possibilities for the treatment of cardiovascular diseases, while Researcher Yoo Suji shared research achievements on an advanced protocol for the production of cardiac organoids.
The Japanese Circulation Society is a prestigious international academic conference representing Asia in the field of cardiovascular medicine, serving as a global platform to share the latest achievements in basic science, translational research, and clinical research on cardiovascular diseases. Every year, renowned researchers from around the world participate to foster academic exchange, making it an important stage to showcase the excellence of Korean researchers globally.
