Busan City will donate $100,000 for the restoration of earthquake-stricken areas in Myanmar.
Busan City (Mayor Park Hyungjoon) announced on the 2nd that it will provide approximately 150 million KRW to support the recovery of regions affected by the recent strong earthquake near Mandalay in central Myanmar.
The city has maintained a long-standing friendship with Yangon, Myanmar as international sister cities. Through this support, Busan plans to further strengthen humanitarian cooperation.
Earlier this year, Busan City provided humanitarian aid for wildfire damage in Los Angeles, USA, and last year supported earthquake recovery efforts in Japan, continuing its international disaster relief efforts.
Busan will continue to actively support countries and regions suffering from disasters by strengthening solidarity with the international community.
Mayor Park Hyungjoon of Busan said, "I extend my deepest condolences to the people of Myanmar who are suffering from natural disasters, and I hope this support will help expedite the recovery of the affected areas, even if only a little."
