The Hongseong County Health Center announced that, starting this month, it will launch a free tetanus vaccination support program for vulnerable county residents aged 60 and older to promote public health through infection prevention.

Eligible recipients are basic livelihood security recipients and those in the second-lowest income bracket aged 60 and older who are registered residents of Chungnam Province as of the vaccination date.

The program provides one free tetanus vaccination per person. Those who have received a tetanus vaccine within the past 10 years are excluded from the free vaccination program.

Residents wishing to receive the vaccination should bring identification and documents verifying their eligibility to the vaccination room on the first floor of the county health center between 9:00-11:30 a.m. and 1:00-4:30 p.m.

Jung Youngrim, Director of the Health Center, said, "Through free tetanus vaccinations, we will strive to reduce the economic burden on vulnerable groups and strengthen their immunity so they can enjoy a healthy old age."

Tetanus is an infectious disease that occurs when tetanus bacteria found in soil and dust enter the body through wounds. It can cause paralysis such as muscle spasms, making vaccination essential for prevention.
