Korea Expressway Corporation and the Expressway Corporation Labor Union announced on the 31st that they will donate 200 million KRW to support the rapid recovery of areas affected by the recent wildfires and aid for disaster victims. The fund was jointly raised, with 100 million KRW each from the corporation and the labor union.

The donation will be used through the Community Chest of Korea for recovery efforts in major affected areas such as Uiseong and Andong in Gyeongbuk, and Sancheong in Gyeongnam, as well as for relief, daily necessities, and housing support for disaster victims.

The Expressway Corporation has resumed traffic on the sections of the Jungang Expressway (Namandong~Seoandong) and Seosan-Yeongdeok Expressway (Bukuisung~Cheongsong), which were temporarily closed due to the wildfires, and is accelerating the restoration of damaged rest areas and transportation infrastructure. Facilities such as Cheongsong and Jeomgok rest areas, 314 CCTV locations, and 14 VMS sites are being restored sequentially.

The rest areas will undergo safety inspections before establishing restoration plans. It is expected that the recovery will take a considerable amount of time. To reduce inconvenience for users, the corporation has installed temporary restrooms. The remaining facilities are planned to be restored by early April.
