A fire broke out at a daycare center in downtown Gwangju, causing three people, including staff inside the building, to inhale smoke and be transported to the hospital.


According to the Gwangsan Fire Station and others on the 31st, a report was received at around 1:45 p.m. that "smoke is billowing from a daycare center in Suwan-dong, Gwangsan-gu, Gwangju." The fire spread, emitting black smoke to nearby areas where hospitals and shopping centers are concentrated.


Upon receiving the report, the fire authorities were dispatched to the scene, began extinguishing the fire and searching the building, and managed to put out the fire 36 minutes after it started, at 2:21 p.m. Three people who were inside the building inhaled smoke and were taken to the hospital for treatment.


The fire authorities are investigating the exact cause of the fire and the extent of the damage.
