Cherry Blossoms in Gyeonggi Area Bloom April 2-3... Full Bloom One Week Later

Gyeonggi Province has predicted the cherry blossom (king cherry tree) blooming period to be from April 2 to 3 this year.

The Gyeonggi Provincial Forest Environment Research Institute announced on the 31st that, based on data collected through the "Climate Environment Change Vulnerable Forest Plant Species Phenological Observation Monitoring" study conducted jointly with the National Arboretum over the past 11 years on 71 species across 4 mountain areas, they directly observed flower buds at 7 major cherry blossom spots in the province to predict the blooming period.

By region, the predicted blooming dates are ▲ Anyang Surisan April 2 ▲ Suwon Old Gyeonggi Provincial Office April 3 ▲ Osan Mulhyanggi Arboretum April 3 ▲ Gwangju Namhansanseong April 5 ▲ Bucheon Wonmisan April 7 ▲ Gimpo Suansan April 8 ▲ Namyangju Chukryeongsan April 8. Compared to last year's blooming period, this is 3 to 5 days later.

Kwon Geon-hyung, head of the Tree Research Team at Gyeonggi Province, said, "Since full bloom occurs within 3 to 7 days after blooming, we will do our best to provide accurate information so that Gyeonggi residents can fully enjoy the happy spring flowers."
