"Warning from Doctor: Kissing Someone with a Beard Could Lead to Serious Trouble"

A doctor has warned that kissing a man with a beard can cause skin diseases such as dermatitis and impetigo.

On the 24th (local time), according to the British Daily Mail, Dr. Myro Figura, an anesthesiologist in Los Angeles, USA, recently claimed on his social media that "kissing someone with a beard can cause infections and skin irritation."

According to Dr. Figura, unclean beards may harbor bacteria such as Staphylococcus and Streptococcus. If these bacteria penetrate wounds caused during kissing, infections like impetigo can occur.

Impetigo is a highly contagious superficial skin infection that mainly occurs in unsanitary environments during hot and humid summer seasons. It is characterized by dirty-looking blisters, pus, and scabs.

Although impetigo is contagious, it is not a serious infection. According to the UK's National Health Service (NHS), red ulcers or blisters quickly burst and leave hard brown scabs. The scabs enlarge, spread to other parts of the body, and can cause itching and pain, but usually disappear within 7 to 10 days after treatment.

The sure way to avoid skin infections is to ensure that men properly manage their beards. Dr. Muneeb Shah, a dermatologist active on TikTok, advised, "Since reducing the spread of bacteria is important, regular shaving can benefit both the skin and the partner."
