Korail Suspends Train Operations on Yeongju-Yeongcheon Section in Uiseong, Gyeongbuk

Korea Railroad Corporation (KORAIL) announced on the 25th that the suspension section of the Jungang Line train operation due to the wildfire in Uiseong, Gyeongbuk, has been reduced from Yeongju~Gyeongju to Yeongju~Yeongcheon starting from 8:30 PM.

This is to alleviate inconvenience for passengers.

Gyeongju Station and Yeongcheon Station are approximately 32 km apart.

Earlier, when the wildfire spread to the Hwahwa Tunnel between Andong Station and Uiseong Station, KORAIL suspended train operations between Andong Station and Gyeongju Station from 3:23 PM on the same day for safe train operation, and then expanded the suspension section to Yeongju Station~Gyeongju Station from 5 PM.

A KORAIL official stated, "Since the wildfire has not spread to Yeongcheon, which is south of Uiseong, we have reduced the suspension section for the convenience of train passengers," and added, "As it is uncertain when the wildfire will be extinguished, busy customers are advised to use other means of transportation such as buses instead of trains."
