The Democratic Party of Korea raised the level of its street protests by deciding on the 23rd to set up a tent party office in Gwanghwamun. Park Chan-dae, the floor leader, stated at a National Assembly press briefing, "Starting tomorrow, we will install and operate a tent party office in Gwanghwamun and fight together with the people in the square until the Constitutional Court rules to dismiss Yoon Seok-yeol," adding, "The Gwanghwamun tent party office will serve as a base for various decision-making and actions."
Since the 12th, the Democratic Party, which had been camping with a tent in front of Gwanghwamun, plans to take a step further from the 24th by operating the tent as a 'base' for party activities. This is the first time in 12 years since the predecessor party, the New Politics Alliance for Democracy under leader Kim Han-gil in 2013, that the Democratic Party has operated a tent party office outside the National Assembly. At that time, they operated a tent party office in front of Seoul City Hall demanding reform of the National Intelligence Service.
On the morning of the 24th, the Democratic Party plans to hold a plaque unveiling ceremony for the Gwanghwamun tent party office and an on-site Supreme Council meeting. During the operation period of the tent party office, all major party meetings will be held in Gwanghwamun.
Along with this, the Democratic Party will continue relay protests such as press conferences and one-person demonstrations in front of the Constitutional Court. They appealed, "The delay in the impeachment ruling against President Yoon, the destroyer of the constitution, is causing the Republic of Korea to fall off a cliff on the diplomatic stage," and added, "Only dismissing President Yoon will restore democracy and be the first step for Korea to once again play a leading role as a democratic country on the world stage."
