Kakao Pay announced on the 18th that it will offer benefits such as a 20,000 KRW discount coupon for the Dyson online mall to university students starting their spring semester in March.
University student membership benefits are provided across digital content, cafes, fashion brands, and more. The number of campuses where offline payments are possible and benefits have been increased.
By issuing a KakaoTalk Student ID and linking it to the Kakao Pay university student membership, students receive a 20,000 KRW discount coupon for the Dyson online mall’s Supersonic Nickel·Copper. Other benefits include a 120,000 KRW discount coupon for the Airwrap Strawberry Bronze, a 30% discount on Melon Streaming Club subscriptions for 12 months, 30% discount coupons for Ediya, Hollys, and Twosome Place, and a 5,000 KRW discount coupon for ABC Mart stores.
The Talk Student ID is a digital card service that allows easy verification of university enrollment and graduation information via KakaoTalk when authentication is required.
Students who link their membership receive a coupon that deducts 500 KRW when paying 1,000 KRW or more with Kakao Pay Money on campus, available up to five times per month. The promotion runs until June 30 at 14 universities including Konkuk University, Kyung Hee University (Seoul), Kyung Hee University (International), Duksung Women’s University, Seoul National University of Science and Technology, Seoul National University, Seoul Women’s University, Sookmyung Women’s University, Soongsil University, Chung-Ang University (Seoul), Chung-Ang University (Anseong), Pohang University of Science and Technology, Hankuk University of Foreign Studies (Seoul), and Hankuk University of Foreign Studies (Yongin).
A promotion offering discount benefits at Emart24 stores on campus is also running throughout this month even without linking the membership. At Emart24 stores on the campuses of Konkuk University, Kyung Hee University (Seoul), Kyung Hee University (International), Seoul National University of Science and Technology, Sookmyung Women’s University, Soongsil University, Chung-Ang University, and Hankuk University of Foreign Studies (Yongin), customers can use a 2,000 KRW discount coupon up to four times per person when paying 10,000 KRW or more with Kakao Pay Money.
Kakao Pay newly launched Kakao Pay payment services this year at five university campuses including Jeju University (Ara), Jeju University (Sara), and Gunsan University. For universities already partnered, Kakao Pay is continuously expanding the offline payment environment on campus by collaborating with welfare associations to open additional payment locations such as student cafeterias, cafes, and convenience stores.
Kakao Pay stated, "We are expanding various benefits for university students in line with the start of the semester," adding, "We plan to introduce differentiated promotions to enhance payment convenience on campus and provide more benefits outside campus as well."
