Gyeonggi Province will open applications for institutions to participate in the ‘Gyeonggi Regional Specialized MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, Exhibitions) Development Project’ from the 17th of this month until the 18th of next month.
This call invites companies and public institutions planning MICE events related to specialized industries connected to Gyeonggi’s strategic and promising sectors such as robotics, nano, display, renewable energy, and semiconductors, or linked to the regions of the province’s 31 cities and counties. Participants can form consortia with the 31 cities and counties of Gyeonggi or specialized private event organizations.
Gyeonggi Province has subdivided the support stages into three levels: Incubating, Promising, and Excellent, broadening opportunities to discover diverse convergence MICE events.
The Incubating stage supports new or 1-2 times held events with up to 55 million KRW. Promising events, which require nurturing and growth support for advancement, receive up to 75 million KRW, while Excellent events, representing global events that can symbolize the region, are supported with up to 90 million KRW.
The funding can be used for domestic and international promotion costs, inviting overseas speakers, venue rental, tourism programs, meeting technology, and more.
Selected projects will receive consulting at pre-event, on-site, and post-event stages from an advisory group composed of professional MICE planners, providing comprehensive evaluation and advice to develop the event into a representative global MICE event of Gyeonggi Province.
Jang Hyang-jeong, Director of the Tourism Industry Division of Gyeonggi Province, stated, "Gyeonggi Province possesses diverse industries and attractive MICE content across its 31 cities and counties," adding, "We will spare no effort to support the development of Gyeonggi’s representative regional specialized convergence MICE events linked to local specialized industries, tourism, and culture to strengthen global competitiveness."
