67 Candidates Registered in 23 Districts for April 2 By-Elections... Average Competition Rate 2.9 to 1

The National Election Commission announced on the 14th that a total of 67 candidates registered in 23 electoral districts for the April 2 by-elections and re-elections, showing an average competition rate of 2.9 to 1.


In this election, four parties will receive nationwide unified symbols in order of the number of seats: the Democratic Party of Korea as number 1, the People Power Party as number 2, the Party for National Innovation as number 3, and the Reform New Party as number 4. Parties without seats will have their symbols determined according to the alphabetical order of their party names in Korean, and independent candidates will have their symbols decided by lottery. The voter list will be finalized on the 21st.


Information about candidates’ occupations, education, career, assets, military service, tax payment, and criminal records can be checked through the National Election Commission’s election statistics system. Voters eligible for the by-elections and re-elections can visit their district, city, or county offices or access the district, city, or county office websites to review the voter list from the 16th to the 18th.
