The International Student Supporters group consists of 20 international students currently enrolled in universities (including graduate schools) located in Gwangju. They will engage in a variety of activities to strengthen exchanges with the local community, promote the appeal of Gwangju globally, and attract more international students to the city.
These supporters are students from 16 countries, including Vietnam, India, Japan, China, and Uzbekistan, studying at seven universities such as Chonnam National University, GIST, Honam University, and Chosun University. A total of 41 students from 21 countries applied to join the supporters this year.
The supporters will participate in local university tours, promotional events such as the Gwangju Design Biennale, and promote their study abroad experiences in Gwangju both domestically and internationally through social networking services (SNS).
The city will provide monthly activity allowances to the supporters and plans to award certificates of commendation to outstanding supporters who actively participate at the end of the year.
