The Democratic Party of Korea announced on the 12th that it is reviewing a request for personal protection after receiving a tip about an assassination plan targeting Representative Lee Jae-myung.

원본보기 아이콘Hwang Jeong-a, the Democratic Party spokesperson, said after the Supreme Council meeting at the National Assembly, "There was a tip about a threat to Representative Lee's personal safety," revealing this information.
Spokesperson Hwang stated, "Several lawmakers, including party leadership, received a message saying, 'HID agents are smuggling Russian-made pistols and have an assassination plan against Representative Lee. We would appreciate it if Representative Lee could avoid exposure for the time being.'"
She added, "There was also a request to do our best in protecting Representative Lee for the time being, so we have decided that it is better to prepare accordingly," and noted, "There are opinions suggesting that we should actively reduce Representative Lee's public exposure."
She further explained, "We expect personal protection measures to be implemented soon."
