The personal information of a teacher who killed a student at an elementary school in Seo-gu, Daejeon, has been disclosed.


On the 12th, the police revealed the personal information of Myung Jae-wan (48), a teacher who fatally stabbed Kim Ha-neul (8) on school grounds on the 10th of last month. The Daejeon Metropolitan Police Agency held a personal information disclosure review committee the day before and decided to disclose Myung's information. The committee members collectively agreed to disclose the information after comprehensively considering the brutality of the crime, the severity of the victim's harm, and the opinions of the victim's family.


In response to the committee's decision, Myung submitted a written statement expressing 'no objection,' and on the same day, his name, age, and face were made public. The disclosed personal information will be posted on the Daejeon Metropolitan Police Agency's website until the 11th of next month. According to the Act on the Disclosure of Personal Information of Suspects in Certain Serious Crimes, there must be a five-day grace period after the committee's decision to disclose personal information. However, if the suspect expresses no objection to the disclosure decision, the information can be disclosed without a grace period.
