The "Golf Emperor" Tiger Woods (USA) underwent Achilles tendon surgery.
On the 11th (local time), he revealed through his social media (SNS) that "I felt pain in my left Achilles tendon during training at home, and was diagnosed with a ruptured Achilles tendon at the hospital." He underwent surgery related to this, which is reported to have gone relatively well.
AP explained, "The surgery Woods underwent involves a smaller incision compared to typical Achilles tendon ruptures, and the recovery time is relatively fast. However, it generally takes more than a month before weight can be put on the leg." Accordingly, Woods is effectively unlikely to participate in the season's first major tournament, the Masters, starting on April 10.
Since missing the cut at The Open last July, Woods has not appeared in regular tournaments.
