The Pompidou Centre was designed by masters of modern architecture Richard Rogers and Renzo Piano. Opened in 1977, the Pompidou Centre is one of Paris’s landmarks, famous for its building structure that exposes steel pipes and ventilation ducts on the exterior. Last year, it attracted about 3 million visitors, making it the third most visited tourist spot in Paris after the Louvre Museum and the Orsay Museum.

After fully closing this September, the Pompidou Centre will undergo a complete overhaul, including the removal of asbestos used during its original construction and improvements to energy efficiency. The total construction cost is estimated to reach approximately 262 million euros (about 412 billion Korean won). After the renovation is completed, the Pompidou Centre will be reborn with new exhibition spaces. The new Pompidou Centre, five years from now, is expected to include new spaces for children and youth as well as an expanded library.
