This project provides subsidies for early retirement of operable old vehicles, and this year, a budget of about 2.2 billion KRW has been allocated to support 693 vehicles.

The eligible vehicles are diesel vehicles with emission grades 4 and 5 (grade 5 includes vehicles other than diesel) and road-use type 3 construction machinery (dump trucks, concrete mixers, concrete pumps) manufactured under emission standards applied before August 2009, or forklifts and excavators manufactured under emission standards applied before 2004.

Vehicles and construction machinery that have been equipped with emission reduction devices or converted to low-emission engines through government support are excluded from eligibility. However, concrete mixer trucks and concrete pump trucks are eligible for support.

The subsidy is paid differentially at 50-100% of the vehicle standard value calculated by the Insurance Development Institute, depending on weight and engine displacement, and an additional 30-200% of the vehicle standard value is paid if a replacement vehicle meeting the support criteria is purchased.

The application period is from the 17th of this month to April 11th. Applications can be submitted online through the Comprehensive Vehicle Emission Computer System or by mailing the required documents by registered mail to the Korea Automobile Environment Association.

For more details, check the announcement posted in the notice section on the Uijeongbu City website or contact the Korea Automobile Environment Association call center for guidance.

Lee Jong-ho, Director of the Climate and Energy Division, said, "We hope for active participation in the early retirement support project for old vehicles to reduce fine dust and improve air quality."
