He recorded 1 eagle, 2 birdies, and 2 bogeys. He is 8 strokes behind the leader, needing to step up in the remaining rounds.
The Puerto Rico Open is a tournament for players who did not qualify for the prestigious Arnold Palmer Invitational (total prize money $20 million) held during the same period. Although the prize money and FedEx Cup points are much lower than those of the Arnold Palmer Invitational, the benefits are not much different from regular tournaments, such as awarding the winner a 2-year tour card, making it a niche market.
Kevin Roy (USA) took the lead with 11 birdies and 1 bogey, shooting 10-under-par 62. Chris Gotterup (USA) is chasing in second place, one stroke behind at 9-under-par 63. From Korea, Bae Sang-moon is tied for 112th place (even par 72), and Kang Sung-hoon is 131st (3-over-par 75). Some players were unable to finish their rounds due to sunset.
