Doosan Construction announced on the 6th that it has acquired a patent (registration number 10-2771831) for the ‘Viscoelastic Mortar Composition for Reducing Impact Sound and Viscoelastic Damping Floating Floor Structure Using the Same,’ which was jointly researched with Woomi Construction, Eugene Corporation, and Betotech.

This patent focuses on reducing vibration transmission through viscoelastic mortar (a mixture of cement and sand kneaded with water) that minimizes noise and vibration. Viscoelastic mortar has superior viscosity and elasticity compared to ordinary mortar, absorbing impact energy and effectively reducing noise. It alleviates low-frequency reverberations, demonstrating excellent performance in reducing deep and dull heavy impact sounds.

It also offers economic efficiency as it maintains the same thickness as existing floor structures without requiring additional processes. To verify actual performance, a simulation of heavy impact sound blocking performance was conducted in an apartment, confirming about a 5 dB noise reduction effect compared to the standard floor structure.

After the strengthening of inter-floor noise standards, Doosan Construction became the first construction company to obtain the ‘Inter-floor Noise Blocking Structure Performance Certification’ compliant with the current Housing Act. It is currently conducting a national R&D project to develop AI inter-floor noise control technology utilizing active noise control technology.

Doosan Construction stated, "It is significant that the construction industry has come together to conduct research to solve the social issue of inter-floor noise and achieved the best results. We will continue to develop practical technologies, including this patented technology, to create a comfortable living environment where customers can live comfortably."
