Goyang Special City in Gyeonggi Province (Mayor Lee Dong-hwan) announced on the 5th that it will start accepting applications for the ‘Youth Culture and Arts Pass,’ which provides 150,000 KRW per person to 19-year-old youths (born in 2006), beginning on the 6th.
The Youth Culture and Arts Pass is a program designed to expand cultural enjoyment opportunities for young people and support their growth as cultural consumers. It provides subsidies to attend various performances and exhibitions in fields such as △theater △classical music △opera △ballet △Korean traditional music (gugak) △concerts, including popular music.
The Youth Culture and Arts Pass is distributed in two phases, first and second half of the year. The application period for the first half is from the 6th until May 31. The pass can be used until December 31, 2025, based on the date of attendance.
Regardless of income, any 19-year-old youth (born in 2006) can apply through partner ticketing platforms (Interpark, yes24) and the Youth Culture and Arts Pass website.
This year, about 3,400 people, corresponding to approximately 36% of the total population born in 2006 in Goyang City, will be able to receive the 150,000 KRW subsidy on a first-come, first-served basis.
If no amount is used by June 30, 2025, based on the booking date after application, the subsidy will be reclaimed, so special caution is required.
An official from Goyang Special City said, “We hope that through the Youth Culture and Arts Pass, 19-year-old youths taking their first steps into society will actively enjoy cultural life and have an opportunity to grow as cultural citizens.”
