Domestic consultations will support legal advice worth up to 3 million KRW per company for legal issues arising during the management process of startups. The legal consultations will be handled by a panel of 58 legal advisors, all qualified lawyers, and the number is expected to expand to around 100 through new selections throughout the year.

Overseas consultations will be provided in cooperation with major domestic law firms including Kim & Chang, Bae, Kim & Lee, Lee & Ko, Shin & Kim, and Yulchon, offering up to 10 free legal consultations per month per law firm. Targeting nine countries including the United States, China, and Vietnam, specialized local consultations will be provided on key legal issues such as local regulatory reviews and intellectual property protection strategies. Through this, startups are expected to proactively prepare for legal issues that may arise when entering the global market.

A casebook containing a total of 486 actual legal consultation cases, including 121 domestic and 365 overseas cases, has also been posted on the K-Startup website. It provides frequently occurring legal issues and consultation opinions to help startups easily check similar cases and respond quickly. Various legal consultation cases will be referenced throughout the year, and additional content related to major legal consultation cases will be provided.

Lee Chang-hyung, Director of the Korea Institute of Startup & Entrepreneurship Development, said, “This year, we will expand the support scale through the legal support service to meet the diverse legal consultation needs of startups and strive to resolve their legal difficulties by providing various domestic and international legal information.” He added, “In particular, we hope this will be a practical help for startups preparing to enter the global market by enabling them to understand each country’s legal regulations and intellectual property protection strategies in advance, thereby enhancing their global competitiveness.”
