Last year, more than $20 billion was spent using cards overseas, setting a new record. This result is attributed to increased demand for overseas travel and a rise in direct overseas purchases (direct buying) through online shopping.

Card usage amounted to $19.22 billion in 2018, slightly decreasing to $19.12 billion the following year.
