On the 25th, LG Chem announced that it has signed a contract with HL Mando for the "joint development of next-generation automotive electronic component adhesives" as part of expanding the automotive adhesive market.

HL Mando is a leading global software-defined vehicle (SDV) company within the HL Group, developing core components for autonomous driving solutions and vehicle safety, and is promoting the standardization of electronic component materials within the HL Group's automotive sector.

LG Chem will jointly develop products and conduct application tests with HL Mando targeting thermal gap fillers for advanced driver-assistance system (ADAS) control components such as cameras and radars, as well as insulating adhesives for vehicle steering and braking devices. In particular, through this contract, the two companies plan to expand their cooperation to cover thermal and adhesive materials related to next-generation electronic components in the future.

The thermal gap filler for ADAS control components is a highly reliable product with excellent thermal conductivity that has passed various harsh condition evaluations. LG Chem has secured technology that not only provides high thermal conductivity for the thermal gap filler but also enhances heat resistance stability compared to existing products, contributing to improved component reliability, with mass production targeted for 2026.

The insulating adhesive for vehicle steering and braking devices is characterized by maintaining adhesion and insulation performance at high temperatures generated during motor operation. LG Chem's product satisfies these core properties while also contributing to customer process optimization through reduced curing time and improved productivity.

Kim Dong-chun, Vice President of LG Chem's Advanced Materials Business Division, stated, "LG Chem is focusing on developing customer-tailored solutions and eco-friendly technologies in the adhesive field, not only for vehicle bodies but also for various electronic components," adding, "Through cooperation with HL Mando, we will provide innovative and reliable adhesive solutions."
