Samsung SDI to Participate in 'InterBattery 2025'... Emphasizing "Prismatic is the Answer"

Focusing on Prismatic Batteries with Proprietary Safety Technology
Introducing the Current Status of All-Solid-State Battery Development
"Achieving Qualitative Growth Through Differentiated Technology"

Samsung SDI plans to participate in the battery exhibition next month to focus on promoting its prismatic batteries.

Samsung SDI will take part in 'Interbattery 2025,' the largest domestic battery exhibition held from March 5 to 7 at COEX in Gangnam-gu, Seoul, showcasing various next-generation battery products and innovative technologies under the theme "Our Daily Life Upgraded by Battery Technology, InCelligent Life." Hosted by the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy and co-organized by the Korea Battery Industry Association, COEX, and KOTRA, 'Interbattery 2025' marks its 13th edition since its inaugural event in 2013. This year, a record number of approximately 640 companies will participate.

At this exhibition, Samsung SDI plans to highlight the differentiated safety of its prismatic batteries by showcasing technologies such as the recently completed commercialization review of the 'Thermal Propagation Blocking (No TP)' technology. Thermal propagation blocking technology physically prevents heat from spreading from one cell to another through safety materials applied between cells when a problem occurs in a specific battery cell. Samsung SDI possesses a proprietary thermal propagation performance prediction program, enabling structural design to prevent thermal propagation from the product planning stage.

The company will also introduce the development status of all-solid-state batteries. All-solid-state batteries use solid electrolytes, reducing fire risks and offering longer driving ranges. Samsung SDI is progressing steadily with the goal of commercializing this technology by 2027. Following the supply of samples to multiple customers for evaluation at the end of last year, Samsung SDI is currently preparing the next phase of samples.

Samsung SDI will exhibit a 'Cell to Pack' concept product equipped with top terminal prismatic batteries and side terminal prismatic batteries mounted on a full-scale vehicle underbody structure mockup. Unlike the top terminal method, where the positive and negative terminals are located on the top, the side terminal places them on the side, enhancing energy density and safety.

A Samsung SDI representative stated, "Samsung SDI has continuously strived for qualitative growth based on differentiated technology and quality. Through this exhibition, visitors will be able to witness how our daily lives are upgraded by battery technology and confirm the competitiveness of the battery technologies that make this possible."
