Four Patents Filed and Registered for Smart Prestressing Pile Method
Pursuing Designation as New Construction Technology by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport

Samsung C&T Construction Division is accelerating efforts to secure technological competitiveness by developing a foundation reinforcement method necessary for remodeling project foundation work.

On the 20th, Samsung C&T announced that it is pursuing designation as a new construction technology by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport for four patents related to the 'Smart Prestressing Method' used in remodeling foundation work. After jointly filing the patents last year with Korea ENC, a leading domestic reinforcement pile construction company, the patents have been registered and have also received technical certification from the professional society, the Korean Geotechnical Society.


The prestressing method involves installing additional auxiliary piles alongside the existing piles and applying pressure to reinforce the building's foundation. The conventional prestressing method sequentially and manually controls the load applied to the piles, making it difficult to ensure reliability and safety. Since it is hard to visually determine the extent of reinforcement needed for the piles, excessive work can cause damage to the structure.


By applying the Smart Prestressing Method developed by Samsung C&T to pile construction, structural safety and construction quality can be secured. The entire set of piles installed for foundation reinforcement is automatically and simultaneously controlled, preventing design errors and construction deviations. Multiple reinforcement piles are monitored in real time, and the hydraulic jacks connected to the automatic control device distribute the load automatically to the necessary parts, ensuring that all piles bear force evenly.


Samsung C&T explained, "Applying the Smart Prestressing Method technology on site will secure safety and quality while greatly improving work efficiency, making it a core technology for remodeling construction."


Samsung C&T is preparing to secure new remodeling complex orders this year, including Gwangnaru Hyundai. The company plans to expand on-site application by developing various technologies such as the ‘Remodeling Structural Safety Evaluation Program,’ which automatically calculates areas requiring demolition by analyzing load burden rates before and after remodeling, and the ‘Automatic Downward System Soundproof Wall,’ which operates automatically via hydraulic devices during frame demolition.
