Choi Sang-mok, Acting President and Deputy Prime Minister as well as Minister of Strategy and Finance, stated on the 13th, "The government will do its best to change social perceptions of skilled technicians and create a society where they are properly respected."
At the luncheon event for the 47th International Skills Olympics team held at Lotte Hotel World in Songpa-gu, Seoul, Acting President Choi said, "Watching the highlight videos of the national team, I felt how diligently they have honed their skills on site, overcoming failures and making tireless efforts day and night for today's success."

원본보기 아이콘About 120 people attended the event, including the team members, Kim Moon-soo, Minister of Employment and Labor, Lee Woo-young, head of the Korean delegation to the International Skills Olympics, international judges, sponsoring businesspeople, senior entrepreneurs, parent representatives, and future national representatives. They spent time viewing the works created by the team and watching videos of their performances at the competition.
At the event, Acting President Choi said, "In modern industries that demand advanced skills and creativity, the technical expertise of skilled technicians holds value beyond time," adding, "As national representatives of the International Skills Olympics, I hope you will develop the skills you have honed and become industrial national representatives who lead Korea as a talent powerhouse and technology powerhouse."
The 47th International Skills Olympics national team achieved 2nd place overall at the International Skills Olympics held last year in Lyon, France, winning 10 gold medals, 13 silver medals, and 9 bronze medals. Among 57 participants across 49 categories, 49 participants in 43 categories won awards, marking the highest number of medals and awardees since Korea's first participation in 1967.
Notably, players Kang Seung-hwan (20 years old) and Jung Sung-il (19 years old) won gold medals in the newly introduced 'Robot Systems Integration' category at this competition. In the 'Web Technology' category, player Shin Seung-bin (20 years old) won a gold medal, achieving the fourth consecutive victory in this category since the 2017 Abu Dhabi competition.
