The Gwangju Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Chairman Han Sangwon) announced on the 5th that it is recruiting companies to participate in the 2025 Safety and Health Management System Establishment Consulting Program for the prevention of major industrial accidents in small and medium-sized enterprises.

Since last year, the scope of the Serious Accident Punishment Act has been expanded to include workplaces with 5 to 49 regular employees. In response, the chamber plans to promote a 'Major Accident Prevention Consulting' support program for local SMEs that are struggling to establish safety and health management systems due to a lack of manpower and budget.

To this end, the chamber plans to hire professional consultants in the field of industrial safety and health this month. The selected companies will receive at least one on-site consulting visit per month and on-demand phone consultations from professional consultants until the end of the year.

The program is open to workplaces with fewer than 50 employees. Applications are accepted until the 18th. A total of 15 companies will be selected based on the risk of industrial accidents, willingness to participate, and order of application.

The main support includes: △identifying and improving hazardous and risk factors in the workplace △providing education for business owners and those in charge △assisting with documentation, including the seven key elements of establishing a safety and health management system.

A representative of the Gwangju Chamber of Commerce and Industry said, "With the expansion of the Serious Accident Punishment Act, the burden of safety management on companies has increased," and added, "Through this consulting program, we will support the establishment of safety and health management systems at workplaces and strengthen the response capabilities of local businesses."
