Jeonju City Library announced on the 5th that it will be accepting applications on a first-come, first-served basis for about 200 participants for the 'Jeonju Citizen Reading School' from the 10th of this month until the 6th of next month.
The Jeonju Citizen Reading School has been fulfilling citizens' cultural needs through a variety of courses, and over the years, it has also served as a training ground for citizen volunteers in various fields such as early childhood education and book play.
The reading school will offer a total of 10 courses at 10 city libraries in the Jeonju area, including Jeonju City Library Kkotshim, from June 11 to July 8.
The programs include: ▲Calligraphy (Kkotshim) ▲Nature Forest and Ecology Education (Wansan) ▲Picture Book Puppet Show (Samcheon) ▲Reading Literature in English (Seoshin) ▲Picture Book Curation (Pyeonghwa) ▲Poetry Recitation Performance (Hyoja) ▲Elementary Book Play (Songcheon) ▲Paper Art Instructor (Geumam) ▲Jeonju Old Storyteller Training Class (Jjokgureum), among others.
The reading school courses will be conducted over four months for all subjects, with a monthly fee of 5,000 KRW. Citizens who wish to participate can apply through the Jeonju City Library website, and for more details, they can inquire by phone.
Choi Hyunchang, Director of the City Library Headquarters, said, "Thanks to your support, the reading school, which has been striving to provide opportunities to enjoy diverse cultures through reading and humanities education, is now celebrating its 28th anniversary," and added, "We will continue to work hard to provide quality lectures, so we ask for the active participation of interested citizens."
