The Mokpo Youth Training Center in Mokpo-si, Jeollanam-do (Mayor Park Hongryul) has been honored as the top institution in the 2024 National Comprehensive Safety Inspection and Evaluation of Youth Training Facilities, conducted by the Ministry of Gender Equality and Family and the National Youth Policy Institute. The center received a ministerial commendation and a prize of 1 million won.
According to the city on the 5th, this evaluation, conducted every two years, targeted over 200 youth training facilities nationwide (youth training centers, youth hostels, and campsites). The assessment covered five areas: operation and management systems, youth usage and programs, personnel and organization, facilities and safety, and facility operation development. It also included safety checks for architecture, civil engineering, machinery, firefighting, electricity, and gas.

원본보기 아이콘The Mokpo Youth Training Center received high scores in all areas, and Mokpo-si's ongoing efforts to improve the convenience of youth users by upgrading aging facilities also contributed to the achievement. The city is currently carrying out functional improvement projects for each building (Saengmyeong-dong, Pyeonghwa-dong, and the main auditorium), including remodeling the main auditorium of the youth training center.
Joo Incheol, director of the Youth Training Center, stated, "This award is the result of the unwavering support from Mokpo-si and Mokpo YMCA for the youth of our community. We will continue to strive for the healthy growth of our youth."
A city official said, "We hope the Youth Training Center will become a youth facility that represents not only our region but also the entire southwest area. We will do our best to ensure the health and safety of our youth."
The Mokpo Youth Training Center operates major programs such as training activities for elementary, middle, and high school students, career experience support, safety education, club activities, and after-school academies.
Meanwhile, the Youth Training Center has been recognized as the top youth training facility nationwide, being selected as the top institution five times since 2016 and receiving the Minister of Gender Equality and Family Award four times since 2018.
