Gongju City in Chungnam Province announced on the 5th that it will accept applications for this year's Farmers and Fishermen Allowance from those registered as agricultural and fisheries business operators until April 18.

The Farmers and Fishermen Allowance is an annual benefit provided in the form of local currency to support the income and improve the quality of life of farmers and fishermen.

Eligible applicants are those who have maintained their resident registration in Chungnam since before January 1, last year, and have continuously registered as agricultural or fisheries business operators until the date of beneficiary confirmation. In addition, their total non-agricultural and non-fisheries income for 2023 must be less than 37 million KRW.

The support amount is 800,000 KRW per household if there is one eligible recipient, and 450,000 KRW per person if there are two or more recipients. The allowance will be paid within 70 days from the date the beneficiaries are confirmed.

Last year, the city provided a total of 10.196 billion KRW to 17,270 eligible recipients in the form of Gongju Pay and prepaid cards in August.

Mayor Choi Woncheol said, "The Farmers and Fishermen Allowance has a positive impact on the development of agriculture and rural communities by guaranteeing and enhancing the public value of agricultural and fisheries activities. We will actively promote the program to ensure no eligible person is omitted and thoroughly carry out the selection and verification of beneficiaries."
