Ulsan City Accelerates Preparations for the '2025 KOREA Ulsan World Archery Championship'

Selected for the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism's
'2025 Regional Autonomous Sports Activity Support' Project

Ulsan City has been selected for the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism's 'Regional Autonomous Sports Activity Support' project and will receive 500 million KRW annually for three years from this year until 2027.

The 'Regional Autonomous Sports Activity Support' project supports sports activities tailored to regional characteristics. In this selection, Ulsan City’s '2025 Ulsan National Archery and World Archery Championships' was chosen.

This is the result of Ulsan City's efforts and active support from the central government, and Ulsan plans to accelerate preparations to establish a foundation for the successful hosting of the event.

The '2025 Korea Ulsan World Archery Championships' will be held this October at locations including Taehwagang National Garden and the Municipal Archery Range in Ulsan, with over 800 athletes from 35 countries participating.

Through hosting this event, Ulsan plans to create a festival for domestic archers centered around the city. Additionally, by linking it to the World Archery Championships, Ulsan aims to promote Korea’s traditional archery culture to the world, using the Banggucheon petroglyphs (depicting an archer hunter), recognized as Korea’s first sports cultural heritage record, as a historical and cultural background. This will help Ulsan grow into a global hub city for archery, enhance national prestige, and revitalize the local economy.

Alongside this, Ulsan will operate archery classes for elementary, middle, and high school students in collaboration with the Korea Archery Association, and by simultaneously hosting national youth and general archery competitions as well as the World Archery Championships, it will strive to popularize archery and expand the base of community sports.

In May, Ulsan City plans to hold the 'International Archery Academic Seminar,' where delegations from various countries will participate in an international academic conference, discuss competition rules and the founding of the World Archery Federation, and visit the Banggucheon petroglyph site.
