The city has allocated a budget of 7.6 billion KRW to support 1,000 electric passenger cars and 200 electric cargo vehicles in the first half of this year. Subsidies of up to 8.3 million KRW for electric passenger cars and up to 22.88 million KRW for electric cargo vehicles will be provided.

Starting this year, additional national subsidies have been included, such as an extra 20% support for youth purchasing their first-ever vehicle, an additional 10% national subsidy for farmers purchasing cargo vehicles, and extra national subsidies based on the number of children in multi-child families, allowing for broader support compared to 2024.

Eligibility for application includes individuals who have had a residence in Gwangju City for at least two consecutive months as of the application date, corporations located in Gwangju City, and public institutions. Citizens wishing to receive subsidies must complete the application form and purchase contract through manufacturers or sales agents, who will then submit the documents via the Zero-Emission Vehicle Integrated Website.

Subsidies will be provided on a first-come, first-served basis according to the order of vehicle delivery and registration. If the vehicle is not delivered within 10 days from the date of selection as a subsidy recipient, the selection will be canceled.

Mayor Bang Se-hwan stated, “We will actively support the purchase of eco-friendly electric vehicles to practice carbon neutrality and respond to climate change,” adding, “We will make every effort to create a sustainable local community together with our citizens.”
