Samsung Electronics Chairman Lee Jae-yong will hold a trilateral meeting on the 4th with Sam Altman, CEO of OpenAI, and Masayoshi Son (Son Masayoshi in Japanese), Chairman of SoftBank Group.
According to business circles, Chairman Lee is expected to meet with CEO Altman and Chairman Son at the Seocho office building in Seoul in the afternoon for a trilateral meeting related to AI.
CEO Altman arrived in South Korea that morning and held a private workshop called "Builder Lab" for Korean companies and startup developers at the Plaza Hotel in Seoul. He then met with SK Group Chairman Chey Tae-won and others to discuss cooperation plans. At a joint meeting with Jung Sun-ah, CEO of Kakao, a joint partnership between Kakao and OpenAI was announced. Chairman Son arrived through Gimpo Airport that morning. Son has maintained a close relationship, having visited Korea in 2022 and met with Chairman Lee.
Previously, OpenAI and SoftBank joined hands through joint projects such as "Stargate," an AI infrastructure project worth $500 billion (approximately 720 trillion won). Through this meeting, comprehensive cooperation plans with Samsung Electronics are also expected to be explored.
