Gyeonggi Pocheon City (Mayor Baek Young-hyun) announced on the 4th that the 20th Pocheon Baegun Valley Dongjanggun Festival, hosted by the city and organized by the Baegun Valley Merchants Cooperative, successfully concluded on the 2nd.
During the festival period, a total of about 60,000 visitors came to the Dongjanggun Festival site, an increase of 20,000 compared to last year. Despite the festival period being about 10 days shorter than usual and including weekends and holidays with heavy snowfall, the 20th Pocheon Baegun Valley Dongjanggun Festival recorded the highest number of visitors in its history, achieving great success.
Pocheon City judged that various experience programs set against the beautiful winter scenery of Baegun Valley contributed to the increase in visitors.
Programs enjoyed by people of all ages such as ice sledding, traditional top spinning, and snow sledding, along with children's play facilities, ice trout fishing experiences, and various food booths received great responses from visitors.
The fact that many media outlets visited the site for coverage during the festival period also had a significant impact. They focused on Baegun Valley as a winter festival destination and reported on the festival programs and visitors' reactions.
Mayor Baek Young-hyun of Pocheon also visited the festival site and media broadcasting rooms in person to conduct interviews, promoting the Dongjanggun Festival and vividly conveying the excitement of the festival site.
Although relatively mild winter weather in the early opening period was expected to cause difficulties in operating some programs, the use of artificial snow and ice ensured smooth operation and increased visitor satisfaction.
Mayor Baek Young-hyun of Pocheon said, “I thank the tourists who visited the festival site and the cooperative members and related personnel who worked hard for a safe festival. I hope the Dongjanggun Festival will continue to repay visitors' support with more diverse programs and abundant attractions in the future.”
