The government and both ruling and opposition parties have agreed to hold a four-way policy consultation early next week. The meeting will be attended by Choi Sangmok, Acting President and Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy and Finance; Woo Wonshik, Speaker of the National Assembly; Kwon Youngse, Emergency Response Committee Chairman of the People Power Party; and Lee Jaemyung, leader of the Democratic Party of Korea. They are expected to discuss the formulation of a supplementary budget and livelihood-related bills, including the Special Semiconductor Act.

On February 4, Kim Sanghoon, Policy Committee Chairman of the People Power Party, met with reporters after a working-level meeting for the policy consultation held at the National Assembly and stated, "We have decided to hold the policy consultation next week to reach a conclusion."

The policy committee chairpersons from both parties previously held a working-level policy consultation with the government and the opposition on January 22, before the Lunar New Year holiday, but the talks ended without agreement.

Chairman Kim said, "We have decided not to disclose specific details regarding today's working-level meeting," adding, "We agreed to finalize the agenda discussed by holding the policy consultation on either the 10th or 11th."

As the government, ruling, and opposition parties have agreed to reach conclusions on key agenda items at the four-way policy consultation, it is expected that discussions will be finalized on the Special Semiconductor Act, including special exceptions to the 52-hour workweek, as well as detailed plans for the supplementary budget.

Jin Sungjoon, Policy Committee Chairman of the Democratic Party, said, "We are coordinating the specific schedule, and the meeting will serve as an opportunity to openly discuss various pending issues concerning state affairs."
