These include the endangered wild species 'Pachyoil-yeop' and the air-purifying plant 'Areca Palm' selected by NASA. The 'Sseum flowerpots' in which these plants were planted were made from leftover fabric scraps of disposable masks discarded at factories and recycled PET bottles. They only need to be watered once a month, satisfying both eco-friendliness and convenience.
Kumho Tire, through Triple Planet, will provide aftercare for one year, including plant health consultations and replacement of withered plants, and planted trees in the nursery equal to the number of plants provided to the school. Students completed 480 minutes of environmental education (7 sessions) covering biodiversity, including endangered species.
Kang Jin-gu, Head of Management Support Team at Kumho Tire, said, "The classroom forest, created for the fourth time, provides experiences that allow children and adolescents to recognize the fundamental importance of health preservation, emotional stability, and biodiversity." He added, "Kumho Tire is actively practicing environmental management through proactive biodiversity conservation programs and is committed to social contribution activities such as educational donations targeting children and adolescents."
Since 2021, Kumho Tire has been creating classroom forests at elementary schools in Seoul. Additionally, since 2022, it has been practicing environmental management by providing climate and environmental education content to children through 'Green Campaigner' activities.
