Park Beom-gye: "Myeong Tae-gyun answered that Yoon chose martial law '12·3' because he was 'scared'"

Park Beom-gye, a member of the Democratic Party of Korea, evaluated that the so-called 'Golden Phone' of political broker Myeong Tae-gyun served as the trigger for the emergency martial law.

On the 4th, Park appeared on SBS Radio's 'Kim Tae-hyun's Political Show' and said, "There are many things to investigate going forward, but there is no clear investigation result on why the martial law was declared at 10:30 PM on December 3rd. They are only talking about the motive related to so-called anti-state forces, but I have suspicions related to Mr. Myeong."

He said, "During this Lunar New Year holiday, I went to Changwon to visit Mr. Myeong," and added, "When I asked him why it was December 3rd, he replied, 'Because they were scared.'"

Park explained, "The investigation report related to Mr. Myeong's Golden Phone was prepared on November 4th last year. After the prosecution announced on December 1st that they would file additional charges for evidence concealment, on the 2nd, Mr. Myeong's side said they would give the Golden Phone to the Democratic Party aiming to gain power."

He continued, "On the 3rd, the day of the martial law, Mr. Myeong told his lawyer that 'he cannot trust the prosecution's investigation and that a special prosecutor is needed, and if it goes to a special prosecutor, he will reveal everything about the Golden Phone.'" He speculated, "Judging from this, it seems that 10:30 PM on December 3rd was not a pre-determined date and time." He added, "In the end, it seems that President Yoon Seok-yeol made a judgment that there was no other way regarding the Golden Phone, and hurriedly attempted the emergency martial law."

Park said, "Originally, there was a plan for emergency martial law, but isn't there various evidence as to why it was hastily executed on December 3rd in an incomplete state?" and added, "This provides a sufficiently convincing explanation."

Furthermore, he said, "Since Mr. Myeong is currently a detained defendant, he may have been incoherent at times, but there is a consistent point," and added, "Mr. Myeong's Golden Phone clearly influenced the emergency martial law as well as the speed and direction of the investigation."
