Samsung Electronics announced on the 4th that it achieved sales of 1.3 million units in the domestic pre-sale of the Galaxy S25 series. This is the highest pre-sale record in the history of the Galaxy S series. The success was driven by the ‘easy and intuitive’ artificial intelligence (AI) features and the price freeze aimed at popularizing AI smartphones.
The pre-sale was held for 11 days from the 24th of last month until the day before. Looking at the sales ratio by model, the Galaxy S25 Ultra accounted for the largest share at 52%. The Galaxy S25 (26%) and Galaxy S25+ (22%) followed. The starting price for the Ultra model is 1,698,400 KRW. The standard model starts at 1,155,000 KRW, and the Plus model starts at 1,353,000 KRW. In terms of colors, the Ultra model’s Titanium White Silver and Titanium Silver Blue were popular, while Ice Blue and Silver Shadow were favored for the Galaxy S25+ and Galaxy S25.
Approximately 125,000 people visited the ‘Galaxy Studio’ (Times Square, COEX, Hongdae, Gangnam) set up by Samsung Electronics to experience the Galaxy S25 AI features during the longest 9-day Lunar New Year holiday. At the Gangnam studio visited on the 2nd, about 20 visitors were interacting with the Galaxy S25. Various requests such as "Recommend today’s lunch menu," "Can you check if this English sentence’s grammar is correct?" and "Plan a weekend trip to Yeosu and input it into the Samsung Notes application" were made.
"The drawing I made became an emoticon!" At the experience booth, a couple laughed out loud while looking at the enlarged screen of their phone. After drawing on the phone with a stylus and pressing the ‘Create AI Sticker’ button, the drawing was instantly transformed into a sticker emoticon. At the AI class held on-site, the Galaxy S25’s ‘Audio Eraser’ feature, which removes specific sounds from videos, was introduced. When the AI removed the audience noise from the band Day6’s concert video, leaving only the music, exclamations of amazement erupted here and there.
On the same day at the COEX studio, visitors were trying out the ‘Now Brief’ feature in a space recreated to resemble a subway during a commuter’s rush hour. Jeong Hajin (38), who was listening to the AI summarizing the schedule?"You woke up 5 hours and 30 minutes ago this morning, and the temperature has dropped below freezing. There is a meeting at 4 PM"?said, "It’s amazing, like talking to my real assistant," but also added, "It’s a bit scary to think that all my information is being collected like this."
The feature that organizes searches and schedules with just one voice command without switching between multiple apps also attracted attention among customers. Park Jinyoung (41), who experienced the Galaxy S25, said, "When planning a travel itinerary while watching YouTube, I used to have to switch between two apps to input it into the calendar, but now I can do it all at once with just one voice command, which is convenient." Meanwhile, the Galaxy Studio will operate until the 23rd of this month.
