Two Researchers from Mokpo National University Compound Semiconductor Center Receive Commendation from Jeonnam Governor

Kim Jaehun and Kim Minju Receive Governor's Commendation
for Contributions to the Jeonnam Semiconductor Industry

National Mokpo University (President Song Hacheol) announced on the 4th that Senior Researcher Kim Jaehun and Researcher Kim Minju, both affiliated with the Compound Semiconductor Center, received commendations from the Governor of Jeollanam-do.


This commendation recognizes the two researchers for their outstanding contributions to the operation of the Jeonnam Compound Semiconductor Center and the advancement of the regional semiconductor industry.


Senior Researcher Kim Jaehun was acknowledged for his significant contributions to supporting semiconductor companies in the Jeonnam region and fostering the local industrial ecosystem. He has overseen corporate support at the Compound Semiconductor Center, providing various forms of assistance to attract semiconductor companies and promote the use of advanced technologies.

In particular, he has offered customized technical consulting for companies and established a support system that enables local semiconductor businesses to utilize the latest semiconductor technologies and equipment, providing practical help for them to achieve global competitiveness.


Kim Jaehun stated, “My role is to help companies overcome technical challenges and achieve sustainable growth,” adding, “With this commendation as motivation, I will work even more actively for the development of the semiconductor industry in the Jeonnam region.”


Researcher Kim Minju was recognized for her contributions in the areas of semiconductor education and talent development in the Jeonnam region. She has planned and operated educational programs related to compound semiconductors, strengthening practical, hands-on curricula so that students can immediately apply their skills in the industry.


She has also operated semiconductor training courses for local university students, customized employment-linked programs, and company-tailored talent development courses, making significant contributions to increasing the employment rate of local talent.


Kim Minju emphasized, “Talent development is the most important factor in the semiconductor industry,” and added, “I will continue to advance our educational programs so that students can deepen their understanding of semiconductor technologies and receive practical support that leads to employment.”


Center Director Jeon Heeseok stated, “I am very proud that Senior Researcher Kim Jaehun and Researcher Kim Minju have faithfully fulfilled their respective roles and dedicated themselves to the development of the Jeonnam semiconductor industry,” adding, “With this award as a stepping stone, we will do our best to help Jeonnam grow as a hub of Korea’s semiconductor industry through more systematic research and education.”


The National Mokpo University Compound Semiconductor Center plans to continue its efforts for the development of the semiconductor industry and local talent cultivation, building a globally competitive semiconductor industry ecosystem through cooperation among industry, academia, and research sectors.
