Kim Jaeyoung, Seoul National University Professor, Appointed as New Head of Technology Research Institute at Hyundai Engineering & Construction

Hyundai Engineering & Construction announced on the 4th that it has recruited Professor Kim Jae-young, former Vice President of Research at Seoul National University, as the Director of its Technology Research Institute.


Professor Kim graduated from the Department of Civil Engineering at Seoul National University and earned his master's degree from the same graduate school. He obtained his Ph.D. from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and served as a professor in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering for 29 years since 1996. His main research areas include resource circulation and circular economy, climate crisis, and smart cities. He is recognized as an expert for his research achievements in waste resource energy conversion, greenhouse gas emission management, and biogas fields.


His major career highlights include Vice President of the Korean Society of Civil Engineers, President of the Korean Society of Waste Management and Resource Circulation, Director of the Next-Generation Convergence Technology Institute, and Vice President of Research and Director of Industry-Academic Cooperation Foundation at Seoul National University. The company expects that, given his high level of technical understanding and extensive domestic and international networks, he will contribute to securing technologies related to various new businesses and laying the foundation for sustainable growth.

The Hyundai Engineering & Construction Technology Research Institute is composed of four divisions: Basic Technology Research Division, Smart Construction Research Division, Future Business Research Division, and Research Planning Division. Equipped with specialized research facilities such as the Green Smart Innovation Center, it serves as an outpost for the commercialization of core technologies.
