Busan's 'Sarang-ui Ondo' Hits All-Time High... Hope 2025 Sharing Campaign Finale

62-Day Relay by Busan City and Busan Community Chest of Korea
Love Temperature Tower Hits 124 Degrees, 13.47 Billion KRW Raised ? Highest Record Ever

Lotto winnings, ‘interest-free debt,’ 20 years of New Year's Day donations, relay contributions from popular stars... The temperature of love measuring donation amounts has soared to an all-time high this year.

Busan City (Mayor Park Hyung-joon) announced on the 2nd that it has concluded the ‘Hope 2025 Sharing Campaign,’ a 62-day relay campaign conducted together with the Busan Community Chest of Korea (Chairman Lee Soo-tae).

The Hope 2025 Sharing Campaign was held from December 1 last year to January 31 this year under the slogan, ‘Make myself valuable through donation, make Busan valuable through donation.’

As of 11 a.m. on January 31, the Love Temperature Tower’s sharing temperature was 124 degrees, and the amount raised was 13.47 billion KRW. This exceeded the target amount by 2.61 billion KRW and marked the highest performance since the founding of the Busan Community Chest of Korea.

The fundraising amount does not include in-kind donations, and the Community Chest expects the final sharing temperature to exceed 124 degrees.

In December, BNK Financial Group donated a total of 1.2 billion KRW, and in January, four affiliates of Hwasung Group simultaneously joined as sharing prestigious companies, demonstrating the social responsibility of local companies. This led to an increase of about 70 million KRW in corporate donations compared to last year’s campaign, greatly contributing to achieving the highest fundraising amount ever.

Also, on January 13, the Love Temperature Tower’s sharing temperature reached 100 degrees early, warming the world frozen by the severe cold and economic downturn during the year-end and New Year period. The dates for reaching 100 degrees in previous years were ▲January 25, 2022 ▲January 27, 2023 ▲January 15, 2024, with this year’s achievement being the earliest in the past four years.

Moreover, this campaign was warmed further by donations with various stories.

An anonymous donor who said, “I want to share the luck I won” donated the entire third prize lotto winnings. The family of Kang Chung-geol, chairman of the Busan International Disabled Association, who has been donating every New Year's Day for 20 years, did not forget this year either.

Kim Ji-young, vice president of Haemul Wangchang Kalguksu, who started a pledged donation of 100 million KRW calling it ‘interest-free debt’ to deliver the message of sharing, “I hope ordinary people donate and many people participate,” also shared her story.

The baton was passed on to fandom donations involving popular stars such as Lim Young-woong, Jung Seo-joo, Kang Daniel, and their fan club members.

Busan Mayor Park Hyung-joon said, “I congratulate the successful conclusion of this year’s campaign, which marks the beginning of a virtuous cycle of sharing that creates a warm community,” adding, “60% of the campaign funds were raised through local connections, a result achieved together by the city, 16 districts and counties, and Busan citizens.”

He continued, “In difficult times, the hearts of citizens who look after and embrace those around them are Busan’s strength. We will make further efforts to become a warm will of life for citizens through welfare policies that citizens can feel, by actively cooperating with socially responsible companies and organizations.”
