Gyeonggi-do to Conduct Comprehensive Audit of Bucheon-si Until the 26th of This Month

Gyeonggi Province will conduct a comprehensive audit of Bucheon City until the 26th.

The Gyeonggi Province Audit Committee plans to enhance communication and consultation with Bucheon City regarding this audit to increase acceptance and satisfaction levels. Additionally, from the initiation to the conclusion of the audit, various external experts, including citizen auditors, will be involved in audit planning and preliminary investigations.

The Gyeonggi Province Audit Committee will focus on auditing delegated tasks stipulated by laws or involving national or Gyeonggi Province budgets to protect municipal autonomy. Audits of autonomous tasks will only be conducted if there is suspicion of illegality based on reports or media coverage.

Reports can be submitted through the Audit Committee’s website or directly on-site, and all informants will be handled anonymously to ensure no disadvantages are incurred.

The subjects of reports include various inconveniences experienced by residents, illegal or improper acts by public officials, corruption by public officials, fraudulent claims on public finances, and illegal operations. However, matters involved in investigations or trials, issues that may infringe on private rights or privacy, and matters already audited or under audit by other agencies are excluded.

The Gyeonggi Province Audit Committee plans to generously exempt minor mistakes made by public officials during the sincere and conscientious execution of their duties for the public interest.

Lee Seon-beom, Head of Audit Division 1 at the Gyeonggi Province Audit Committee, stated, "We will actively reflect residents’ reports and citizen auditors’ opinions to protect residents’ rights and interests. At the same time, by enhancing the credibility of audit dispositions and the satisfaction of audited institutions, we will increase audit acceptance so that residents can truly feel the effects of the audit."
