MBC (Munhwa Broadcasting Corporation) has launched an investigation after suspicions arose that the late weathercaster Oh Yoanna passed away due to workplace harassment.

On the 31st, MBC announced, "We have decided to form a fact-finding investigation committee chaired by an external expert to determine the cause and truth behind the death of the late Oh Yoanna."

The fact-finding investigation committee will include multiple external experts such as legal professionals and department heads from the company's internal personnel grievance-related organizations as working members. After preliminary preparations over the weekend, the investigation is scheduled to begin early next week.

MBC stated, "Immediately after suspicions surrounding the deceased's death were raised, we conducted an internal investigation and will provide all preliminary investigation materials obtained so far to the committee to support a smooth and swift uncovering of the truth."

They added, "We pray for the deceased's peace and will make every effort to clarify the exact facts so that the bereaved family’s pain can be healed."

Weathercaster Oh joined MBC in 2021 and passed away last September. The bereaved family has filed a lawsuit for damages against MBC employee A at the Seoul Central District Court.
