The Youth Store (Enterprise) Development Project is a program that supports young people who wish to start a new business or are in the early stages of entrepreneurship by providing step-by-step assistance such as initial startup funds including rent and remodeling costs, as well as startup consulting, and nurturing them into ‘anchor stores.’

The recruitment target is young residents aged 19 to 39 who wish to start a business such as a store or office within Yangcheon-gu or who have started a business within the last two years. The selection process consists of document screening (first round) and presentation/interview screening (second round). Those who pass the first document screening will undergo about four weeks of basic startup education (including commercial district analysis, marketing, etc.) and one-on-one consulting for each candidate, followed by presentation and interview screening to finally select 2 to 3 teams by April this year.

The finally selected young entrepreneurs will receive support including up to 10 million KRW for new store remodeling within 50% of their self-funded amount, monthly rent support up to 1 million KRW for one year from the agreement date, and up to 1 million KRW for promotion and marketing expenses. The district office plans to additionally provide post-consulting from this year to help the stable operation and settlement of youth stores.

Youth wishing to participate can check the required documents on the district office website’s notice and announcement board and apply by the 13th of next month.

Since 2018, the district has supported a total of over 400 million KRW to 34 youth stores, helping startups in various industries such as restaurants, cafes, accessory shops, pet snack stores, eco-friendly flower shops, and side dish stores.

In particular, the handmade gelato specialty store ‘Jellodi,’ founded last year, and the dessert cafe specialty store ‘Chamsae Gwajabang,’ founded in 2023, have established themselves as popular eateries in the Mokdong Rodeo Street commercial district. The bakery cafe ‘Local Corner,’ founded in Sinjeong-dong in 2023, recently opened its second branch in Mokdong and is operating as a popular cafe in the area.

Mayor Lee Gijae said, "The Youth Store (Enterprise) Development Project is a program that goes beyond simple economic support to revitalize the local economy and create new growth engines. We will spare no effort to support young people so that they can successfully settle in the local community through continuous follow-up management."
