Gwanak-gu (Mayor Park Jun-hee) has been selected as one of nine local governments nationwide for the Ministry of Health and Welfare's '2025 Pilot Project for the Personal Budget System for Persons with Disabilities,' strengthening welfare for persons with disabilities this year.

The 'Personal Budget System for Persons with Disabilities' allows individuals with disabilities to choose the services and goods they need within a given budget according to their desires and circumstances. This system contributes to enhancing welfare by enabling self-directed living and providing customized welfare services for persons with disabilities.

Gwanak-gu, having been selected for this pilot project, can now fully support welfare services that guarantee autonomy and choice for persons with disabilities.

Recipients can use 10-20% of the voucher amount provided individually as a personal budget according to their individual usage plans.

Additionally, moving away from the previous supplier-centered approach, recipients can directly choose to purchase goods or use services necessary for daily and social activities.

Notably, as this pilot project is an 'Expanded Voucher Model,' the scope of support has also been broadened.

Previously, only persons with disabilities qualified for the 'Disability Activity Support Voucher' were eligible. However, this project targets persons with disabilities who qualify for at least one of the four vouchers: ▲Disability Activity Support ▲Adult Developmental Disability Day Activity Service ▲Youth Developmental Disability After-School Activity Service ▲Developmental Rehabilitation Service.

Residents wishing to participate in the project can apply at their local community service center from February 5 to February 19.

The district plans to select 25 voucher recipients among the applicants with disabilities to implement the pilot project this year.

Mayor Park Jun-hee stated, "We hope that the Personal Budget System for Persons with Disabilities will guarantee the self-determination rights of persons with disabilities and enable more efficient use of welfare resources," adding, "We will continue to do our best to improve the quality of life for persons with disabilities."
